Is it too cold outside? Or do you have severe cold? Oops do you feel like having some food which might warm you up. Then crab curry would be the right food. This goes well with hot steamy rice.
Ingredients:
Crab - 10 (Medium size)
Onions - 3 (Finely chopped)
Tomato - 1 (Big size , Finely chopped)
Cocounut - 5 tsps ( Finely Grated)
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp (Saufn, Sombhu)
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Corriander powder - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - few leaves
Salt - as required
Oil - 2 tsp
Making:
Clean and wash the crab thoroughly in cold water. Put the 2 tsp of oil in the pan and place over the stove. Once the oil is heated, add 1 tsp of fennel seeds. When fennel seeds become light brown(the aroma of the seeds can be sensed?), add the chopped onions and tomatoes and fry them till the onion becomes translucent. Now add the crab, turmeric powder, chilli powder, corriander powder, salt and 1 cup of water. Add the finely grated cocunut and allow the mixture to boil for 10-15 minutes. Add the curry leaves 5 minutes before switching off the stove. Hot juicy crab curry is ready.

Simple Sambhar
This is the most easiest Sambhar you could ever make and very yummy yummy. Goes well with hot steam rice with any spicy side dish.
Ingredients:
Onions - 3
Tomatoes - 2
Toor Dhal( Tuvaram paruppu) - 1 cup
Tamarind - 1 lemon size
Dry red chillies - 7 (break them into 2 or 3 pieces)
Salt - as required
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry leaves, corriander leaves - few leaves
Making:
Cut the onions and tomatoes into medium slices. Wash the dhal thoroughly in cold water. Add 2 - 3 cups of water. Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of asafoetida in the dal. Add the cut onions and tomatoes into the dal and cook the dal in a pressure coooker for 20 minutes. Soak the tamarind in hot water for 10 minutes and take the juice and keep aside. Heat the pan with 2 tsp of oil and add the mustard. After the popping of mustard, add the red chilles and roast them. Add the dal and tamarind juice with 3 cups of water. Add salt as required and allow it to boil for 15 minutes. Add the curry leaves and corriander leaves into the sambhar 5 minutes before switching off the Sambhar. Your simple sambhar is ready :)
